INFO AND FAQ (2021-2022)

Please note that registration for tryouts does NOT commit a player to register for the Royal Palm Beach Strikers for the upcoming season;  nor does it confirm that a player has been selected for a team.  Parents and players will be notified at tryouts or by email whether the player has been selected for a RPB Competitive Team.  There is no fee to tryout.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING OUR UPCOMING TRYOUTS & 2021-2022 SEASON

With everyone’s health and safety as our top priority, we are contunuing several changes that we made to our program this past season following the guidance of our city, state, and medical experts due to the unprecedented times resulting from the COVID-19 virus. Please review all of the following information before you click to register using the respective links below.

WHAT WILL CHANGE FROM PAST YEARS?

1. REVISED TRYOUTS:

First and foremost, we will be implementing a skill-based tryout with recommended social distancing measures in place for Tryouts.  Our Tryout process will have all safety restrictions as determined by our governing authorities. All RPB Strikers staff will also follow all necessary safety guidelines as required.

Current and Returning RPB Strikers Players

We will be offering every current RPB Strikers player the guarantee to be SELECTED and return to RPB Strikers as a player for the 2021-2022 season PROVIDING THEY REGISTER ONLINE BY May 22 2021. All current players will be evaluated and placed to our upcoming 2021-2022 teams based on their performance during the 2020-2021 season, in combination with our LIMITED 2021-2022 Tryouts. We request that all players attend Tryouts. However, if a player is in a household which includes a family member with a “high risk” underlying condition and elects not to participate in Tryouts, that player will be solely evaluated based on their past performance, provided they are registered online by May 22, 2021.  Players can still register online after May 22 but will no longer be granted a guaranteed position.

New Players to RPB Strikers

New players who are not currently active on a RPB Strikers roster will be selected based on a combination of their evaluation during our tryouts, prior staff evaluations during past competitions, and by their optional submission of any and all video recordings; including highlights, games, skills, etc. Such submission, or any questions, should be emailed to our RPB Strikers Director of Coaching at president@rpbstrikers.com. All new players must be registered online prior to Open Tryouts to be considered.

Additionally, please note that players who are not currently registered to RPB Strikers, and who may even be currently registered to another club, can also tryout for a specific team by participating/attending a current RPB Strikers team’s practice session(s) prior to our mandatory Open Club Tryouts. Dates of individual “team tryout” participation are assigned to players who request such on an individual basis by our Director of Coaching and all individual team tryout/practice dates are governed by FYSA ByLaws.  To schedule a specific “Team Tryout” session, please contact RPB Strikers Director of Coaching, Mal Hasan, at president@rpbstrikers.com.

2. TRY-OUT DATES

2021-2022 TRYOUTS ARE SCHEDULED FOR TUESDAY, JUNE 1 - SATURDAY, JUNE 5.

Please refer to the schedule for specific age groups on our "Registration for Tryouts" page. Once you are registered for tryouts you will receive all current news & updates by email. Please plan on attending all listed Tryout sessions for your designated age group.  Your cooperation is greatly appreciated.

IMPORTANT: For current RPB Strikers players to be assured a position on a 2021-2022 team, all players must be registered online by May 22, 2021. All Players must be registered online to attend Tryouts; no exceptions! Online Registration is now available!

3. REVISED 2021-2022 Team Travel Policy

It will no longer be a requirement for RPB Strikers players to travel as a team group to tournaments, games, and events which require overnight hotel stays or air travel. All players of all ages will be allowed to travel and stay with their parents at all events during the 2021-2022 season. This will allow families to make their own decision regarding the safety and social distancing measures they prefer for their family during team travel. It will also allow families to reduce the cost of player travel by electing alternate means of player transportation and utilizing membership miles programs, and/or airline/hotel discount programs. However, our normal team travel procedure will also remain in effect and available for any player who elects to travel with their team, room with their teammates, and be chaperoned by team managers and staff. The choice will now be left to the individual family.

We hope that all of our revised policies will help and encourage every RPB Strikers player to participate in a safe and healthy upcoming 2021-2022 season. We look forward to seeing everyone back in a RPB Strikers jersey!

Tryout Registration

Tryout Registration:

  • All players (including current players) are REQUIRED to register online..

  • If you are not able to register within 24 hours of the first scheduled tryout, you should arrive at least 30 minutes prior to the first session to register on site.

Tryout Attendance:

  • It is in the player's best interest to attend all tryout sessions.

  • RPB Strikers conducts open tryouts. Returning players are required to tryout in the same manner as players new to the club.

  • Only players and active technical staff are permitted on the playing surface during the tryout session. Parents should remain off the fields.

Playing "Up":

Players must attend the tryouts for their specific birth year. The technical staff will determine if it is appropriate for a player to tryout in an older age group. If a player is interested in trying out for an older age group, please follow this procedure:

  • Register online for age appropriate group tryouts.

  • Email president@rpbstrikers.com with the following information: Player name, date of birth, current team, requested age group. The technical staff will be notified of your request.

  • All players are required to attend at least the FIRST session with their age appropriate age group (even if approved to tryout with an older group).

  • Players should NOT attend a tryout without appropriate registration as it will further delay the process, and the technical staff will not have your information on their evaluation sheets.

What to Bring and Wear to Tryouts:

  • Players should arrive 20 minutes prior to each session to check-in and get their assigned numbered tryout pinnie.

  • This assigned numbered pinnie needs to be used by the players at each tryout they attend.

  • Please bring ball, water, shin guards and cleats to all tryouts.

Coaching Staff:

  • The RPB Strikers coaching staff is led by Director of Coaching, Mal Hasan.

  • All RPB Competitive Teams are coached by USSF licensed coaches with extensive experience.

  • All coaches are selected and assigned to a team by the DOC.

Player Evaluations:

  • The tryout process will occur over several days where players are evaluated based on all pertinent areas of the game for both current performance and predicted future performance.

  • During the process, evaluations from multiple staff coaches will be taken into account in order to select the team.

Team Formation:

  • Teams are formed based on the results of entire age group tryouts.

  • RPB typically offers 1 team per age group, however, this number may vary from year-to-year based on the results of the tryout process.

Player Notification:

  • Players will be notified at tryouts or via email to inform them if they have been selected for a competitive team.
